Mina Anna Mazzini was born on March 25, 1940 to a solid working class family in Busto Arsizio. She grew up in Cremona, as her family moved there to find a job. The young Mina Anna listened to a lot of American rock'n'roll and jazz records. She was a frequent visitor at the Santa Tecla and the Taverna Messicana clubs of Milan, known as the temples of Italian rock. After finishing high school in 1958, she intended to go to college to study book keeping.
